I've suffered from facial folliculitis for all of my adult life so I was very interested to see if this stuff worked and bought a bottle to try it out.

Suffice to say that it does indeed work, but it is a very harsh chemical. If used the way the instruction leaflet suggests (i.e. applied with a cotton wool ball over a large area) then it causes redness, soreness and large amounts of skin flaking for me. This is no great surprise really given that it supposedly works by being a powerful exfoliating agent.

I have found that if I apply it very carefully ONLY to the exact areas directly affected, i.e directly onto trapped hairs, then it's still pretty effective over a 24-48 hour period and causes far less generalised skin flaking and redness etc. The instructions do say to test on a small area of skin first and this is a very good idea IMO. Not everyone will have the same reactions to any treatment so test it first! Use it carefully and sparingly and avoid sensitive areas and hopefully it'll work for you too.

And the end of the day I'm very pleased to have something to help control my folliculitis, even if it's not a "magic bullet" and has to be used carefully.
    Don't believe the hype!

I've been trying this product on and off over the last year. I'm not overly hairy or anything but like most guys want to be able to take off my shirt in the summer (I bought this last summer) but don't want to look like Chewbacca. So I often find myself shaving my chest, stomach and the top part of my "bikini" line.
Anyway the product itself comes nicely packaged and the bottle it comes in is really nice and doesn't give a feminine look to the product. Application of the product is very simple and can be done just using cottonwool pads. It does smell horrendous and I wouldn't advise using it before a possible intimate time with your partner. Once applied it stings ALOT and I've got very good skin that usually doesnt get effected by anything. If you have sensitive skin I would say this product (which contains an acid) would not be advisable for you at all.
So last summer I bought this product to try and get rid of a massive amount of "razor burn" or ingrown hairs before heading to the beach on holiday, unfortunatly it did not work in the slightest. I was very dissapointed especially after spending so much money on the product.
This summer I've been using it religiously 3-4 times a day and making sure to exfoliate excessivly every day in order to try and reduce the number of ingrown hairs. Although not perfect it is better than the first time I used it.
Overall I don't think the product works well enough to consider buying a new bottle, and using it 3-4 times a day really does get through the bottle fast! Although I did see some improvement in the condition of my ingrown hairs, its not enough to make me consider buying this product again.

Pros: Works better than most ingrown hair solutions

Cons: Expensive, painful, results leave a little to be desired
    Good, but dangerous?

I find this product really does work, but that, along with the smell, slightly worries me! What is it doing to my skin, long term? As someone else says, it smells like nail polish remover, and putting something that smells so corrosive on my skin, has the potential to ruin my skin, i could suppose. And to be honest, when we went on holiday last year i put this product in a travel size bottle, and by the time we arrived at our destination this product had slightly melted? this plastic bottle to the point that the lid had come off and the product was all over my other toiletries!
    But in saying that....
I have been using it regularly for about a year, and my skin seems ok, (im 32 with combination skin which is not especially sensitive or anything)...so i do recommend this product if you want something that works, but that recommendation would come with a warning about the unknown long term effect on one's skin.
    It works for me

I had suffered for years with ingrowing hairs. Using this product practically eraticated them. I now get them now and again, but no where near like before.
    Converted!

I am generally a cynical person and don't believe most of the stuff my bikini waxer tells me, but after years of painful (and often infected) ingrowing hairs, I thought I'd try it. I have really fine hair so they get into my skin really easily and are difficult to remove. Even after the first go,the hairs came through the skin easily. Its made a massive difference. Definately give it a go...
