The best Monopoly game ever!!!

Superb game, a fantastic twist on the original! The instructions at first appear to be very complicated but once you start playing you soon get the hang of it. A great board game for all the family. My son is 8 and he loved it too, in fact he won the first time we played!! Must have been a fluke... Well worth it's money, cannot recommend it highly enough - I loved it!!

Monopoly city is a great new game for all the family to enjoy, it has all the old features which made monopoly fun, but has a lot of extra features included, included an auction feature, enabling you to auction every buy-able area on the board, making the game quicker and more challenging and fun. there is also a timer included (batteries required) which tells you every hour how long you have been play for, it also tells you how many building that you can make during your turn.

This game is perfect for all you monopoly gamers, but it will also appeal to the audience that doesn't like the long lived games that monopoly uses causes.

Monopoly for the 21st century - and that's the problem

If like many families with children you get the games out once a year, then this updated monopoly has pros and cons. It is refreshed, has nice new models, a re-designed board and sensible money (things cost millions). It is also in a generic city so no more Old Kent Road or Mayfair.

The problem we found, though, was despite its somewhat tired familiarity, everyone knew how to play the original game. Trying to explain new rules to a group during the Christmas holidays failed to grab everyone's attention, so I suspect this goes back in the cupboard and we try again next year. No doubt in ten years time this could be another classic (if the electronic gadget keeps working).
The longest game in the world!!

Reviewer: T. neill,
Judging by the other reviews I am wondering if we missed something but played the game using the instructions to the letter - for 5 hours!!! We gave up in the end as we simply couldnt take it any more! The main prob we think was that you could only add building as dictated by the machine which stopped people spending - the ultimate winner was someone who had spent the entire game in jail proving little skill or daring was needed. I think we'll stick to the original in the future!
