| I researched this item before buying, and being new to the iopd generation I was extremely pleased with it. The sound quality is excellent, and looks good too. The remote control is handy, although you still need to use the ipod for menus etc. |
iGroove for iPod Touch

Bought this as the reviews seems excellent. I must say I'm very pleased with it too. Cheaper than a Bose and works not only with the iPod Touch but with all the other types too through a range of adapters.
Nicely put together and the sound quality is excellent.
I had one slight issue with the remote control which meant the whole system had to be sent back and a new one ordered. This was simplicity itself and hasn't impacted on my view of the purchase or of Amazon.

The Best Speakers I've Owned
|
| Review Date: March 11, 2010 |

I got a set of these a couple of years back for Christmas and they worked great with my 3rd Gen iPod and subsequently iPod Touch. Unfortunately they broke just over a year of having them. Thankfully they were purchased from Amazon and replaced promptly with a new set thanks to a great warranty provided by Klipsch. I've since replaced my iPod Touch with an iPhone and while it works great you do get the interference unless in airplane mode -- which is like most other iPod docks around.
The sound these produce is fantastic, if not a little bass heavy. I love my music bassy so for me that's not an issue. The mids are crisp and clear and the highs are certainly not lost. The speakers don't cope well with speech though, which is a shame as I like to listen to a lot of podcasts when working. The sound can fill a room very easily and I usually have to turn it down from the default volume so as not to annoy the neighbours.
The infra-red remote that comes with the iGroove is great! I love being able to wonder around the room, pausing and skipping tracks. Powering off the dock will shut off the music and turn the screen off but it doesn't put the iPod/iPhone into standby, at least not for my touch or iPhone. While an RF remote would be nice, I could see that it would cause problems with other devices and IR is probably a better choice.
The docking system Klipsch have implemented here is the best I've seen. Moving a slider up-or-down allows you to use any iPod here (sans Shuffle), and the included adaptors mean the even your iPod Nano will be secure. Also in the box is a 'J-Cup'. This lets you use ANY device with a 3.5mm headphone jack, such as the iPod Shuffle (though the remote controls won't work when using this). I sometimes plug the iGroove into my computer but bypass the J-Cup, shoving a standard aux cable into the port on the dock (just right of the iPod connector) and it works awesomely.
Overall the iGroove are definitely the best speakers I've owned. Their size is deceiving, pumping out a fantastic, rich, clear sound at great volume. The ability to work with any device is great, even if not all the controls are usable. For the price it's a definite buy for me, and I'd certainly buy it over the more expensive Bose system. |
Don't buy this 5th gen owners

| Bought this as it states it is compatible with 5th gen-it's not! The adaptor doesn't align, and the apple adaptor is too big for the non- standard aperture on the base. This means the iPod has to be plugged in via headphone jack, or balanced unsupported on the connection, which may lead to breakage. Read the forums on this, I'm still awaiting a reply from klipsch as to when correct adaptor will be available. |
