Basically I think this is a little expensive.
Good points:
1. Looks good.
2. Screen is very responsive and clear.
3. Memory size is more than adequate for music. If you are going to use it for videos & apps aswell then you may have issues.
4. There are plenty of apps available for it at istore, most very reasonably priced. Personally I dont use them as most appear to have little practical use.
Bad points:
1. Price.
2. The supplied earphones are rather poor. They sound merely adequate and are uncomfortable to wear.
3. Battery is built in and not user replacable. There have been rumblings about the life of the battery. What happens to your iphone when it does eventually go ? - you cant just buy another one and replace it yourself.
4. Reliability might be an issue. I have had 3 crashes/freezes in as many months & I only have music on it. The more apps and other stuff you load into it the greater the risk of problems.
5. The screen might be too responsive for some - it is very easy to accidentally change what it is doing by lightly touching the screen.
6. Everything you put on it has to go through the itunes software first. This acts as a hub and backup for the itouch contents. This software is rather slow and unweildly. Even worse is the itunes website (which you are connected to everytime you start itunes) which can be very slow at times.
7. You can connect to the web via a wifi conection but really the screen is too small for effective web browsing.

I've previously been a bit scathing and cynical about Apple and their IPOD's. I've had several MP3 players and have been happy but after seeing several of my friends with IPOD touch, I decided I had to have one!
Mine arrived very fast by Royal Mail, I had already downloaded ITunes 9 via the website (I use Windows 7) this installed without any problems and copied all my music across. I plugged in the IPOD Touch via the USB socket and after a few seconds it was recognised by ITunes and started to sync and also I opted to download and install the latest software upgrade. Altogther it took roughly an hour and I was done.
The IPod touch is just amazing, very easy to use and I linked it to my wi-fi at home and now I can check my emails and download apps directly to my IPod. I don't regret buying this at all and i'm glad I bought the 64gb version as I have now got lots of room for apps and other downloads as well as my own music. Probably the only negative I can think of at the moment is the absence of FM radio which I had on my Sony MP3 player. |

The first IPod supplied was quite unreliable; emails could be received Ok but I needed to reset codes and passwords frequently for the machine to send. Amazon gave superb service when I complained and so far the replacement is working like a different machine, it seems to be reliable and works well with emails and I/Net websites.
If you look at the Apple Forum pages you will see many examples of people having all sorts of problems using their iPod Touch 3rd generation; I don't know if they bought a suspect machine as my initial purchase or that the iPod software is just not resilient enough to be used by ordinary people who are not computer experts.
Now my iPod seems to be working Ok, and my fingers are still crossed, there are some quirky features which makes it more difficult than Windows computers. |
Great Product

I recently upgraded from my 30GB 2nd generation ipod.I upgraded for extra space and the 64GB is more than enough. The additonal features are awesome, the map is great, the wifi works flawlessly and video quality is superb. I now use my ipod for more than music it is almost a laptop replacement as I use it when I need to quickly check my email, weather, Bloomberg etc. If like me you don't want to pay the expensive tariff for an iphone then this is a great alternative. The only critisisms I have is the fact that it is very pricey and that I would have prefered the earphone socket to be on the top.
All in all a fantastic product. |
