As I can't better and certainly don't disagree with the other 5 star reviews for the 3rd generation iPod Touch, here's the summary.

It's head and shoulders above anything else on the market in its range and quality of performance. (Sony's got a problem if they think their touch screen and wi-fi browser Mp3 unit comes close.) Why did I wait so long ...it's so West Coast and the sun does shine out of it's ...
Great gadget

My 12 year old son bought this with his birthday money and is really impressed!! It's an amazing piece of equipment and has brought him and the rest of the family hours of entertainment. We also found that buying this through Amazon was a lot cheaper than other shops.

They are so good, so cleverly designed the only negative things i can say about them would be they can only use wifi and not 3g connection, and some hav a tendancy to be faulty, but other than that good with music, apps and videos :)

I've always been a bit of an Apple curmudgeon and for years I have bought and replaced all my "generic" music players from Creative Labs for a number of sound (!) reasons. My 30G Zen Vision had begun to look a little ragged around the edges and was becoming slightly temperamental so in a fantastically callous piece of compulsive consumerism I decided to replace it. I checked online for the new Zen model and horror of horrors it had lukewarm reviews; not just from the usual anti's and fanboys but other longtime users.

So I went for the player that fared best review-wise and now I am the proud but slightly sheepish owner of a third generation iPod touch.

It is a very sexy item and I am strangely drawn to holding and touching it even when it's off......but the less disturbing positives are almost too numerous to mention.
Easy use of iTunes is obviously a huge bonus, no more buying, burning, converting and synching for me. The ease of use and the whole interconnectivity thing drew the occasional jealous glance before when I couldn't use it properly. Now I just had to hold back from an obscene spending spree. (I also bought a Klipsch iGroove iPod Speaker System Black compatible with 3rd Gen Touch and 5th Gen Nano which is tremendous).

The menu system has taken a couple of days to get used to but is now quick and instinctive. I'm loving the apps..the more foolish the better and watching old 50's Sci-Fi B movies on the train is a joy.
Battery life seems very good if I just stick to music and the wi-fi options have a limited use but aren't really a priority of mine. I mostly listen to music, play games, watch films and store photos all of which the "touch" does spectacularly well.

Negative points?....yes the bundled earphones are appalling (the rumours were true) and there is a slight but noticeable reduction in sound quality (especially bass and volume) compared to the Zen but I've let the many positives squash dissention although they are the reason for knocking off half a star but that can't be shown so the laws of mathematics demand that I round up instead of down.

ipod got the right touch

or those who are condsidering buying Apples latest incarnation of the Apple Ipod touch 32gb MP4 player is a great tool for those who require some form of entertainment on a regular basis.

My previous ipod was a nano and as i began using it on a daily basis i found that i would want more varity in my music as well as video for those long commutes to and from work.

The ipod touch itself has a great touch screen with various features allowing multiple finger touching to be recognised. It is simply a device which can be as engaging as the media it holds for you. through sliding and pinching motions you can navigate various applications and ipod tools which again becomes quite easy to master after a few attempts, but this can also depend on the level of paitents in us all. Its slimmer and lighter than its predessors making it easier to carry with you

Music quality is always good with Apple standard headphones as they have aimed to improve on their comfort a bit , but for those who like big base lines in their music the headphones fall a little short as you will get that rattle noise when it cannot carry those notes. You can compinsate a bit in the settings for this a bit but it is still noticable.

The introduction of the remote with voice control is initially a very cool feature but from a personal stand point i am not sure if i want to announce everything i want to listen to - as well as the fact that if you dont speak clear enough you will get something all together different.

Apart from this the ipod touch has free wifi roaming capability which is great for the coffee shop crowd as all of them now supply free wifi. Surfing the net on the ipod touch is reletivly easy after you get use to the touch key interface. You can also have direct acess to the itunes as well as app store via a wifi connection.

Speaking from someone who has been an ipod user for over 5 years - from the black and white to the touch today- the most inventive feature they have added to the ipod touch ar the apps available for it which allows you to experience many of the apps which are available for free as well as ones you pay for which gives the ipod a while new area of interactivity. From the really fun to the non sensical there seem to apps for everyone to use and explore which opens the possiblilties of tools on the ipod even further.

This also opens the avenue to games and other apps which also use the ipods motion controls which allows all lanscape interfacing to work regarless of what direction you hold your ipod in.

For those who watch movies on the go - the ipod is quite a good size to watch a movie on those long commutes, which i am speaing from experience. Image quality is superb but you also have to note that this will also depend on the quality of the movie file you are watching. You can also switch from widescreen to full screen from a simple double tap motion allowing your own person viewing preferences to maximise your watching experience.

Battery life is also quite impressive as it seems to last a good length of time as well as being able to be charged quicker than ever.

Overal there is more that the ipod touch can offer such as email, picture viewing and other functions but it is a devise which has lots of possiblities. The only thing i can recommend is get the protection covers for these things as if you are like me you would not want to see the slightest scratch appear on it.
i have had mine for over a month and it was definatley worth it.
